The three-year-old hotel is in a tiny community with only about 3,000 residents, according to the U.S. Census. Nestled in a quiet part of Illinois, it’s the only branded hotel in town, guaranteeing the property has a regular flow of business, says general manager Steve Baggett. In fact, Cobblestone’s only competition is a small 11-room mom and pop style motor inn. And the property is the only hotel in the city included on Trip Advisor’s rankings.
However, the hotel still has numerous challenges such as high staff turnover rate, requiring ongoing new employee training initiatives and streamlining and simplifying operations.
